Belize is located on the northeastern coast of Central America, just below Mexico, and to the east of Guatemala. The Belize Barrier Reef, one of the country's most notable natural features, is located along the coast of Belize stretching from the Belize-Mexican border to off the coast of Honduras.

Stretching for approximately 190 miles (300 kilometers), the Belize Barrier Reef is part of the larger Mesoamerican Barrier Reef System, which is the second-largest barrier reef system in the world, after the Great Barrier Reef in Australia.

1. Dive Mask: A properly fitting dive mask is crucial for clear vision underwater. Look for a mask with a comfortable fit, a tempered glass lens for durability, and a silicone skirt for a watertight seal.

2. Snorkel: While scuba diving, you may also have the opportunity to do some snorkeling. A snorkel allows you to breathe on the surface while observing the marine life from above. Choose one that is comfortable to use and has a purge valve for easy clearing.

3. Wetsuit or Dive Skin: The water temperature at the Belize Barrier Reef can vary, so it's important to choose the right exposure protection. A wetsuit or dive skin helps to maintain body heat and protects against scrapes and stings from marine life.

If you don't want to carry your gear with you to Belize, or if you don't have dive gear (many people don't) there are a multitude of dives shops running dive trips that you can rent gear from. As well, most of the dive trip prices include dive gear. 

However I would strongly urge you to take a couple pieces of personal gear with you.

A.) Your own mask: No one likes a leaky mask, plus comfort and fit is very important.

B.) Snorkel: I don't like using snorkels that have been in other peoples mouth

C.) Regulator Mouth Piece: Take you own mouth piece and swap it for the one on your rental gear. You know where it's been, how it's been cleaned and it's what you are use to. 

D.) Personal SMB: It's smart to have your own "Service Marker Buoy" in case you get separated from your dive group / dive leader, you can deploy it on the surface to mark where you are. 

E.) Wrist Mount Dive Computer: If you own your own dive computer, it's a good idea to take it with you. It's small and easily packed, plus you are familiar with it and it's operation. 

Remember to also bring other personal items such as sunscreen, a hat, sunglasses, and a towel for after your dive. Ensure that all your gear is properly maintained and serviced before your trip. Additionally, consider taking a refresher course if you haven't been diving in a while to brush up on your skills and confidence underwater.
